Robert Layton grew up in Chehalis, a small western Washington town, during the 1950's and 1960's. It was when family influence was still strong and Christian values overwhelming.
As a child battling conditions that kept him in the classroom while friends enjoyed recess, he turned to writing. At eight years of age he penned his first story and before his fourteenth birthday, he had already submitted to Saturday Evening Post and Boy's Life.
Layton graduated from Washington State University within the allotted four years, managing to avoid both military draft and disinheritance. He remains married to the girl he wed a week after that graduation and has evolved from husband to father to grandfather of ten.
During his school years, Layton's feature articles were published locally. He went on to edit student publications during college. Subsequently he contributed to trade journals serving the dot-com world of the 70's 80's, and 90's.
The author played several roles in hi-tech sales and marketing before founding his own website management & consulting business. During those same years, he attended graduate school at the University of Connecticut, coached youth soccer and participated in community governance. As creative at the workbench as at the keyboard, Layton also prototyped many toys and tools to the amusement of friends and family.
Layton's prior publications range from family history to science fiction to fine art. His work can be found in the Library of Congress, the worldwide LDS library system and many state, local and societal libraries.
Having sold his business at the end of 2012, Layton now writes full time about topics that amuse him and which he hopes others will find worth reading.
