About the author
William D. (Deck) Savage was born near Bladenboro, NC, on a small farm but moved with his family to Myrtle Beach, SC, at a time when the oceanfront was natural and boundless with adventures for a ten year old boy. Growing up was a unique time in the 1950s for teens who started a dance called the Shag (which is now the State Dance of SC). Deck and his friends were considered beach bums, who worked at a place called The Pavilion during the summer season. There they fell in love with girls on a weekly basis then went back to high school during the winter. After leaving Myrtle Beach and a career in the Air Force, which was extended for thirty years, he survived three heart attacks, is a major cancer survivor and now retired to the Truman Reservoir area of Warsaw, MO. In the area, he is known for his hunting and fishing exploits plus many friendships. The "Spook" is a 2006 Ford Mustang GT Convertible with a Turbo-charged 400 HP engine. He also owns a completely restored original 1952 F-1 Ford Truck and attends local and state car shows. Deck Savage passed away on July 2, 2013 just three months after his book was published in April, 2013.
