Das Amerikanische

Hubert comes to America to seek his fortune and encounters a diverse bunch of characters who help in his trandsformation to "Das Amerikanische". One of those characters becomes the love of his life. His years cover tragedy and joy and are sustained by his faith in himself and God.

Hubert comes to America and encounters many characters who influence his successful transformation to "Das Amerikanische" and a Minnesota farmer for the rest of his life. He suffers tragedy, but is sustained by the joys of love and faith. Hubert is based on a real immigrant and is the prototype of the immigrant story from the mid-nineteenth century.
