Description
Doug "D-Pug" and Michael live in New York City. They have many friends in the 4-H Club and at the park where they play almost every day after school. When their club is invited to build a float for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, they decide to build a park on wheels. They have joined the 4-H club and volunteer at the local animal shelter. The group of friends has grown and D-Pug has new friends. Luke is a Shih Tzu and Patty is a Dachsund and they all live in the same building.
About the author
Janie Nugent has written two books to raise awareness and funds for animal rescue shelters and adoption. The real Doug "D-Pug" was 8 years old when he was adopted by her family. Doug was such a wonderful dog it made her realize how important it was to consider older pets when adopting. She has given her books to schools, libraries and shelters. Reading to the children at schools and libraries has made D-Pug a popular character! "A Dog for Michael: Doug to the Rescue" tells the story of Doug's adoption in Florida. The second book, "D-Pug in New York", continues their story once they moved to New York. It's her hope that parents and educators will turn children toward the books—the stories will delight children just learning to read, and purchase of the books will support a wonderful program.
