Overview
Cory McBrown is a 12-year-old girl with an assignment to chronicle her secondary school years in a journal. In the midst of normal angst and challenges of a tweenager, she's feeling caught between her mother and brother who are not getting along.
Description
Cory McBrown is growing up in the town of Bantry, Ireland. She is beginning secondary school alongside her best friends- twins Samantha & John McBride, and her older brother Bart. She has been tasked to chronicle her secondary school years in a series of journals, and she's worried she won't have anything to talk about. But among the normal challenges of being a 12-year-old- a new school, when she's going to get her first period, and her friends who are older starting to date- she's also feeling caught between her mother and her brother, who are not getting along. She knows it has something to do with her father leaving, and she's scared she's now going to have to choose between Bart and her mom.
About the author
Riley Blankenship grew up in rural, Alaska. But despite her isolated upbringing, she has travelled many places across the U.S., and the world. She first fell in love with the town of Bantry, Ireland, when she stayed there for a week at 15 years old. Something about the place spoke to her. At the same time, she was busy developing the character of Cory McBrown, and finally knew where to set her. In a lot of ways, Bantry is not unlike her hometown of Palmer, Alaska. It's quiet, has a lot of farmland, and the nature surrounding it is spectacular. The only thing it's missing is the bay. She is a recent graduate of The Los Angeles Film School, and hopes to someday continue Cory's story on the small screen.
