Book Description: "Colin Gets More Than Wings" is about a Caterpillar afraid of change and perfectly content to stay on the ground and be a Caterpillar forever. Colin has convinced himself that he won't know what to do when he gets his wings and that he'll fall out of the sky. Colin's anxiety is something that he's hiding from his mother and his friend. He reluctantly goes on an adventure where he has to be honest about his feelings and embrace the unknown.
Change is never easy and for Colin what he truly wants most of all is to stay a caterpillar forever. Reluctantly he journey's into a new place where he finds the courage to express his honest feelings to momma, his teacher, and to his classmates. He finds comfort in talking about his fears and anxiety that he's kept to himself for so long. Eventually, Colin is able to fully embrace his future and how things are about to change- he looks forward to getting his wings and that there is life outside of the milkweed forest. Social-emotional skills- anxiety, stress, fear of the unknown, coping skills, fidget tools.
