Description

In Child's Play in the Seasons by Jean King, Jean Ellen lives with her family in Illinois. Jean Ellen is always very curious, and one of the things that disturbs her is how her father's birthday is just four days apart from hers, but he is way older than she. She records her height daily to measure how fast she grows, but her mother assures her she will grow as fast as Mrs. Springman's roses. Jean Ellen can't wait to see the roses, but Mrs. Springman who is very kind, tells her that the roses are yet to bloom. Jean Ellen is also very curious about the flooding along the Mississippi River when she hears her parents talking about it. Despite her many questions, her father is very patient and explains the phenomenon to her. Jean Ellen also enjoys other activities such as gardening, playing with her sister, and going to baseball games.
