About the author
My name is Cortlandt Merritt I was born at, Columbia Hospital For Women in Washington,DC. I lived in DC on Holbrook St NE until I was six years old. Later we moved to Landover, Md where I now reside. I attended Columbia Park Elementary,Charles Carroll J.r. High, and Northwestern S.r. High. My high school teacher Mrs. Graham initially inspired me to start writing poetry but it was a chance meeting with Maya Angelou that further inspired me to take my writing seriously. She said, "If you're not writing for publication- you are wasting your time". I choose the title ,"Cherry blossoms In The Snow" because I remember one year the blossoms were in full bloom and it snowed so bad they had to cancel the parade. I was writing all this beautiful poetry yet I was living a totally different lifestyle, thus the irony. Fortunately God's grace and mercy saw me through. I hope you enjoy my book and thanks for your support
