Dane Hinkle was born under the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge at the Presidio Hospital in 1960 San Francisco. He has crossed the country several times, first as a navy brat, and later during his days as a Hot Shot crewmember and Smokejumper in Alaska and the lower 48. An avid outdoorsman, Dane has enjoyed hiking, building log cabins, growing gourmet mushrooms, scuba diving, and spelunking.
