About the author
Barbara Bourne began her career as a professional photographer in the 1980s at 22, photographing portraits and events in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. While heading to or coming from an assignment, Barbara's camera was ever-present and she would frequently ask people on the street if she could photograph them ( or photograph their children). Featured on these pages of 'Capital Moments' are those strangers that said 'yes', and took a moment to look into her lens, with their dignity, strength, and mystery captured in that instant. Barbara's photography career evolved into architectural, interior, and landscape photography, as well as abstract painting. Her studio and gallery are based in Healdsburg, CA and she makes both Sonoma County, CA, and Medellin, Colombia home. Barbara continues to photograph commercial projects throughout California and nationally.
