Description

Brielle the Brave is a children's book about a superhero who has food allergies! Throughout the book, Brielle shares many of her experiences living with several food allergies while in elementary school. This includes Brielle carrying her epinephrine auto-injector everywhere, understanding the importance of self-advocacy, wearing teal for food allergy awareness, and eating safe treats. A key aspect of Brielle the Brave is the positive affirmations included to empower children–especially children with food allergies–in their everyday challenges. Referring to the readers as superheroes, Brielle reminds everyone during the book that they are brave, strong, fearless, and courageous. Brielle empowers children with food allergies and educates their friends about the challenges children with food allergies face. Young children around the ages of three to eight-years-old will enjoy learning from Brielle's story. Ultimately, the hope is that Brielle the Brave allows children with food allergies to see themselves in a book character, helps children understand that everyone endures different challenges, and empowers children so they know that they can do anything!
