About the author
I grew up in Davenport, Iowa. I received an A.A. degree with a major in biology from Graceland College (now Graceland University) in Lamoni, Iowa. I received a B.S. in Education and an M.S. with a major in biology from Central Missouri State College (now University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg, Missouri. I completed undergraduate majors in biology, geology, and psychology/education with minors in general science and mathematics.
As this was during the Vietnam Era, I joined the Navy. I received a direct commission to Lieutenant Junior Grade (O-2) in the Medical Service Corps as an aerospace physiologist. After twenty years, I retired as a Commander (O-5).
After retiring from the Navy, I was then able to teach in the public school system of Virginia Beach, Virginia. I taught eighth-grade general science for four years before moving to a high school where I taught biology and earth science for sixteen years. I was the science department chair for the last nine years.
After retiring again, I have been able to pursue my passion for researching both church history and the Book of Mormon.
I have been married for over fifty years to Patricia J. Boorjian. We have two sons. We are currently living in St. Augustine, Florida.
