Overview

In Book Four of the Cole Dunbar private investigator series, it's the summer of '69 and Cole receives an urgent call from a famous film director, demanding that he come to the studio immediately and take on a new case: finding a movie star whose disappearance from a location shoot in Portland is causing the studio to lose thousands of dollars a day, while the cast and crew sit around doing nothing, on full pay. Sloshing around in the Portland rain and interviewing everyone on site seems to be getting Cole nowhere, but the trail eventually leads him to a mobster in Las Vegas, then ultimately back to LA, where the case explodes in a series of unforeseen events that gradually reveal the shocking truth which involves arson, multiple murder and deceit on a grand scale in a city that's suddenly reeling from the horror of the Tate/La Bianca murders. As if solving the case wasn't enough, Cole soon has his hands full just trying to keep himself and his family alive.
