About the author
Author Debera White-Waters lives in Northeast Oregon with her husband Ken, labradoodle Gretta, and tuxedo cat, Bobbie. Her extended family includes Ken’s three children and six grandchildren, her father Earl, stepmom Ginny and sister Teresa.
In addition to 30+ years of restaurant experience and 8 years of retail pharmacy work, Debera volunteers for many committees and non-profit agencies. She is passionate about environmental protection and her local domestic violence and sexual assault agency, Shelter from the Storm, where she has worked as an employee, volunteer, and board member. She has done three medical mission trips with Global Health Outreach.
Debera has traveled extensively for pleasure apart from her volunteer work. She lived in the Alaskan Bush (in a tent!) for five months, and she studied massage in Thailand. She has made many excursions to Hawaii, Mexico and the Bahamas.
Debera’s hobbies include crafting in her deluxe craft room, snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, meditation, cooking, whitewater rafting, and camping. She also raises ornamental sunflowers, which she sells at the local farmer’s market from the Calistoga Wagon flower cart her husband built especially for her.
