She worked as a secretary in the fields of insurance, construction, manufacturing and law before marrying and moving to upstate New York. She took time off to raise her daughter, but eventually returned to school and obtained her Masters in Education. She taught full-time for 14 years, and is a certified English and Elementary teacher.
