by Mark Owen Lissick

Book Image Not Available
Overview
This book contains 59 of Mark’s best fine art images gleaned from four years of creating abstracts in the estate gardens of Claude Monet. Using just color, light, and motion, to create each image, they will delight the eye and challenge the viewer to draw their own interpretations. Along with an introduction by noted National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones, Mark has included a narration of the creative journey he followed in an effort to blur the boundary between photography and art. Create your own journey as you view the work. Discover the nuances. Listen to your responses.
Description
Bending Light is a fine art image book created by award winning nature photographer Mark Lissick. It contains 59 unique and innovative images that blur the boundary between photography and art while taking you on a visual journey of creativity. Using flowers as the source of color, shape, and tone, they become the paintbrushes to produce sweeping color and line on a digital canvas. The book is a compilation of a four year journey in creative thought as Mark was photographing in the estate gardens of Claude Monet in France. Using innovative techniques, Mark abstracts the flowers to a point where the resulting image can no longer be considered a photograph. It is a merging of source and technology into a new whole that is far greater than the sum of its parts. The result is a body of work that cannot be thought of as photographs but rather a collection of visual imagery whose interpretations is subject only to the viewer’s imagination. While Bending Light is primarily a showcase for the fine art abstract images, Mark begins the book’s visual journey with a discussion of his creative journey from reality-based photography to abstract design. Bending Light also includes an introduction by former National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones in which he talks about how the images represent a paradigm shift away from traditional flower photograph into the realm of fine art abstracts.
