About the author
Joycelin Hulett Brown grew up in Saline County, Missouri near Slater. She lives in Columbia, Missouri where she has written a column for parents for the Columbia Daily Tribune. Joyce has been a teacher, a principal, and a language arts consultant. She has taught literacy, early childhood and parent involvement classes in colleges and universities in Kansas and Missouri. She most recently taught an online course to help teachers and their students for the University of Missouri in Columbia. Joyce received her Ph.D. in Reading Education and Child and Family Development from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
