Overview
Becoming Your Own Hero presents a comprehensive look at what may be our most important, challenging, and least understood pursuit—living authentically. When heart connected you become one with yourself, everything around you, and to a Spirit that is greater than yourself. At those moments life is fulfilling, flowing and heavenly. When you stay in that state of consciousness in the face of difficulties, you feel powerful and you are your own hero. Becoming Your Own Hero illuminates a path to attaining the kind of power demonstrated by our most revered heroes, such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Inspirational heroes distinguish themselves by their ability to remain true to themselves when facing adversity. We face adversity everyday at home and at work. But we have not been shown the way to meet and overcome upsets in ways that do not compromise our own integrity or the integrity of others. Becoming Your Own Hero fills this gap and points the way toward our yearning for inner peace, joy, abundance and meaningful relationships with others and ourselves. By integrating into the text five extended teaching stories that mirror real life, Becoming Your Own Hero not only provides enjoyable reading but makes its information accessible.
Description
Conventional wisdom teaches that hearts are weak and fragile. Beliefs such as, “The heart is mushy and unmanly” leads to clamping lids on emotional openness. With beliefs such as, “Being open leads to being taken advantage of” we grow into control freaks. Believing that “Heartbreak is devastating” inhibits our ability to give and receive love. Except for those magical moments, such as falling in love, walking on the beach at sunset, playing with our favorite animal or proudly watching our children perform on stage we keep our sensitivity hidden behind protective walls, while developing other abilities such as our Intellect and our sexuality. For many people it takes suffering a great deal of heartache before we realize that disconnection from our heart is responsible for: • Missing the meaningful connections for which we so deeply yearn. • Eroding our self-esteem by denying an essential part of ourselves. • Showering disrespect on others and thereby eroding the trust in relationships with those closest to us. By integrating into the text five extended teaching stories that mirror real life, Becoming Your Own Hero not only provides enjoyable reading but makes its information very accessible.
