Overview

Almost 50 years ago, Ernest Callenback's book Ecotopia inspired readers to imagine a different world. "Awaking Hope" picks up the baton and brings a new vision of what an ecologically and socially sustainable future looks like to the modern reader. Inspired by the work of Peter Joseph, best known for his Zeitgeist documentary series and book The New Human Rights Movement, Awaking Hope is the author's debut novel and the first in a planned trilogy. It explores the world we could have if we utilized proven business and systems science methodologies to design society. And based on the current scientific understanding of ourselves and the environment, challenges what the reader believes is possible for humankind.

Description

Citizens of Planet Earth, Welcome to the New World. When an anonymous terrorist group announces they have crashed the world's financial institutions, ending life as we know it, Hope Taylor races home to be with her family - but never makes it there. Waking from a coma in an idyllic future, where money, governments, and crime no longer exist; she must learn to accept this new world or risk exile to the mysterious Outlands. Hope will embark on a journey to discover if humanity has found its Utopia… Or something else entirely. On a dying planet, where our problems seem insurmountable, our future- bleak, could the answer be as simple as smarter system design? And do we already possess the knowledge necessary to save ourselves from extinction? Almost 50 years ago, Ernest Callenback's book Ecotopia inspired readers to imagine a different world. About the author

Renee fell in love with the world through reading. The shy, neurodivergent child of a military family, her best friends growing up were orphans, adventurers, and teen detectives. As a girl, she dreamed of one day bringing one of her own beloved stories to life. A bit of a gypsy, it would take almost thirty years to find a story she was impassioned enough about that she had no choice but to write it. Passionate about the environment and our place in it, it wasn't until discovering the work of Peter Joseph that a clear path forward for humanity took root in her mind - and that alternate future demanded to be fleshed out and written. With her debut novel Awaking Hope, the first in a planned trilogy, she attempts to describe that world and how it's possible for our species to not only survive but thrive in our uncertain future. Renee holds a bachelor's degree in Business/Finance and resides in Vancouver, WA. Find her online at EmilyReneeCunningham.com.
