Overview
Art of the Wish is an art exhibit that celebrates the wishes of elders. Artists Marn Jensen and Andy Newcom interviewed hundreds of elders across the country and gathered their wishes for themselves, their loved ones and the world. Then, the duo created art that would bring these wishes to life. The book is comprised of 70+ pieces of fine art with accompanying stories about the "wisher" and the inspiration for each piece. Some are funny, some are poignant…but all are heart-stoppingly relatable and touching.
Description
Art of the Wish is an art exhibit that celebrates the wishes of elders. Debuting in 2017 and again in 2022, in what was hailed as the "most well-attended art exhibit" in an established, Midwest gallery, the work was met with wild success. The thousands of exhibit visitors consistently asked for this work, which is comprised of both art and stories, to be released in book form. The work is comprised of a variety of mediums: painting, drawing, encaustic, assemblage, photography, fiber and sculpture. Some are funny, some are poignant…but all are heart-stoppingly relatable and touching.
