Overview
Animal Defender is a liberal-minded novel for those who oppose the world's continuous mistreatment of all living creatures, or those who prefer the company of their own cat or dog over that of other Homo sapiens. The three-pronged storyline takes place in Friday Harbor, Washington, an eccentric island community where an unknown assailant seeks sinister retribution against people who are cruel to animals. Meanwhile, the life of a young free spirit and a wealthy recluse intertwine, altering their paths in ways they never expected.

About the author
Chip Casner is a fickle palette of writer, musician, beatnik, and bum who grew up in the suburbs of Madison, Connecticut. At age 21 he followed the Grateful Dead out west until finally settling in the mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona. There, he remained homeless by choice, living in the surrounding woods at night and playing guitar on the streets during the day. Finding the vagabond life less glamorous every day, Chip got a job as a housekeeper. He then went on to form the band Remembering Chaos, where he was introduced to his wife Donna who changed him for the better - or at least made him less prone to debauchery. Chip then began writing feature length movie spec scripts, winning best screenplay in 2014 for Easter Island at the Mountain Film Festival and the Mexico International Film Festival. After growing frustrated with the movie industry, he transitioned his focus to writing novels, with the belief that literature and art are the two last mediums where truth and self-expression still exist.
