A New Way for Santa to Travel

By Grace Maher and Lorraine Woody

Overview

What happens when Rudolph tells Santa the reindeer need Christmas off?

Santa has delivered Christmas the same way for as long as anyone can remember. But this year, Rudolph and the reindeer are tired. They've traveled from town to town, year after year, and they have one very big request: They want the year off.

Christmas without the reindeer? Santa is going to need a new way to travel! Soon, imaginations are running wild. Could Santa take a train? Fly in a hot-air balloon? Ride an elephant? Soar on a dragon? Or maybe even follow a cow jumping over the moon?

A New Way for Santa to Travel is a playful Christmas adventure filled with imagination, friendship, teamwork, and the reminder that sometimes the most magical adventures begin when you're willing to try something new.

Perfect for children ages 3–9, this charming picture book makes a wonderful Christmas read-aloud, holiday gift, or new addition to your family's Christmas traditions.

Description

Filled with humor, imagination, colorful adventure, and plenty of Christmas magic, A New Way for Santa to Travel, invites young readers to dream right alongside Santa as he searches for the perfect solution with Rudolph.

At its heart, this is a story about creativity, friendship, teamwork, and being open to doing things a little differently, even when you're Santa Claus. Perfect for children ages 3–9, this festive picture book makes a wonderful Christmas read-aloud, bedtime story, classroom addition, or holiday gift for children who love Santa, Rudolph, transportation, adventure, and imagining the impossible.

The story behind the book is part of its magic, too. A New Way for Santa to Travel began more than three decades ago as a poem written by Grace Maher when she was in fourth grade. The original poem received an honorable mention from the Georgia State Poetry Society in 1992. Years later, Grace shared the idea with her daughter, Lorraine Woody, and together, the mother-and-daughter team transformed the childhood poem into a new Christmas story.

Created across two generations, A New Way for Santa to Travel is a celebration of childhood imagination, family traditions, and the kind of Christmas magic that never has to grow old. Because sometimes, even Santa needs to discover a new way to travel.

About The Author

Grace Maher is a business executive, writer, mother, and lover of Christmas. She co-authored A New Way for Santa to Travel with her daughter, Lorraine Woody, a fourth-grader and avid lover of Christmas too.  Lorraine helped imagine why Rudolph might ask for a year off, dreamed up Santa's adventurous journey, and helped shape the characters and illustrations that brought the story to life.

Together, they expanded the childhood poem into a whimsical Christmas adventure about Santa, Rudolph, and the unexpected possibilities that arise when it is time to find a new way to travel.

A portion of the proceeds from this book will help bring the spirit of Christmas to children in need. Thank you for your support!
