Description

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live, love and possibly die in a time you've read about in history books by time traveling? Reading this novel, you will travel to the early 17th century, where the Manhanset Indians on Shelter Island are living their last days as the European ships are arriving at an increasing number from the ocean horizon. This becomes more complicated when pirates and Indian families from elsewhere add to the complexity of cultural displacement. As the magnetism between the central character and the heroine blossoms, plans of traveling back to his birth time and lifelong love become clouded and unnerving, if indeed possible. Resilient family bonds develop beyond imagining, with the unfolding of changing times leaving fate to teeter all the way.

About The Author

Tim Morey has walked more than a thousand miles in Mashomack Nature Preserve. The natural descriptions in this book were collected visions categorized along the way as he planned the storyline for Alsoomse. He initially spent a few hours with each visit, following the various trails on this large tract of land, as training for standup paddleboard racing and 5k runs. These afternoons turned into longer and slower explorations as the signs along the way of past indigenous life became more obvious and through the mind's eye, an account was beginning to unfold that became the reason to return each time.
