About the author
Charlyce Simmons is a native of the Orlando FL. Metropolitan area. As a child she attended the EL Bethel Christian Academy, and West Orange High School where she graduated in 1998.
As you know, Charlyce has been blessed with a wonderful gift of music through singing. Her music career began at an early age of three. As the seventh child of Bishop Edward and Pastor Carolyn Thomas gospel music took root early. She would rehearse and sing with her mother and sisters for different events. Gospel music was the foundation of her music beginnings. She sang throughout the Orlando area in churches and choirs. Under the tutelage of her Mom, Ms. Sue Love, and Debbie Wesley (her elementary/middle/high school music teacher) she learned all areas and genres of music and piano.
Her years of music started with Vision and continued on throughout Middle School with Destiny, and she also shared the stage with performers like Patti Labelle, Kim Burrell, Terri McConnell, Luther Barnes, Daryl Coley Larue Howard and Madelyn Berry; just to name a few. God has been opening doors for her to sing at many different venues throughout Orlando and the United States. She has ministered at the T.D. Jakes Leadership Conference, and the PAW Convention with Daniel Johnson, from New Breed. Charlyce's main purpose is to show God's love and healing power through her personal testimony and musical gift. She released a single entitled "I Got U" July 2006, and released a complete Christmas CD entitled "Christmas with Charlyce" December 2007. She wants to continue to travel throughout the United States and other countries to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and let everyone know what God did for her, and what he can do for you.
During her second year of High School she was diagnosed with kidney failure and was placed on dialysis. Despite extended absences from school due to illness, she graduated in 1998. After graduation she attended Valencia for a year. March 7, in the spring of 1999, she received a much needed kidney transplant. Her new CD –All of Me is dedicated to her donor and donor family. After months of healing, she got her first job at the Holiday Inn as a Reservations Clerk. But by the end of 1999 she learned that she needed a total hip replacement. On February 18, 2001 she received a hip replacement. And, after six months of intensive physical therapy, she went to work as the Administrative Assistant for El Bethel Christian Academy and Personal Assistant to the Principal until the fall of 2007.
She met Alonzo in 2002 and they married a year later on March 8, 2003. Then in January of 2009 Charlyce suffered a devastating brain hemorrhage which left her unable to move her left side from the shoulder down, after almost a year of therapy she thanks Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior for his grace and mercy, and allowing her to make a great recovery. The Lord has given her a new song to sing and she will glorify Him every chance she gets. Charlyce currently has a new CD “ All of Me”, and has completed her autobiography. She is the minister of music at El Bethel Temple of Jesus in Orlando, Fl, and spends her time assisting other local and national artists with live concert background vocals, and studio vocals, Conferences, speaking engagements, and volunteers with Translife Organ and Tissue/Transplant Awareness Services. She is truly walking in her purpose and calling Christ Jesus is truly worthy to be praised
