Linda Deckard is a veteran journalist, editor and publisher and a novice author. Having spent the majority of her career writing about the live event business, most usually from the point of view of venue managers for trade papers and professional association magazines, she is thrilled to be diving into another way to tell their story. Linda began her career with the consumer press in San Gabriel, Calif., and Mansfield, Ohio. She started with Amusement Business, a Billboard publication, in 1976, and never looked back. After 30-some years covering the live event business at AB, she founded Venues today magazine and, after selling that publication to Oak View Group, "retired." In 2023, she agreed to be editor of Venue Professional magazine for the International Association of Venue Managers and resumed writing books about the industry and its hosts-with-the-most who know how to ensure thousands of people have a safe and memorable time at events again and again. Finally, she'd like to thank and hug Jessica, her co-author who made it possible and plausible to wrap a ribbon around "ACTS of the Heart." Linda currently resides in Franklin, Tenn.
