The story of a girl. Born into upper middle class privilege, her family is defeated by tragedies. Lilly is a scornful teenager who turns to her boyfriend for support and away from her family. Her boyfriend is a working class kid with the brains and aspiration to transcend social class. The story is a love story with a twist of the knife type heartache.

A Yonkers Kinda Girl is the story of a rebellious girl. Lilly comes from privilege but her big Irish family is essentially broken and non functional. She turns to her boyfriend, a working class kid with a big future. Lilly is the victim of a life changing crime. Her short life is full of adventure and struggle but also full of love.
