About the author
Craig R. Hover is a licensed professional engineer with more than 30 years of engineering, project and facilities management, financial services and consulting experience in independent business and traditional corporate settings. He believes aggressive development of renewable energy sources is necessary for us to successfully meet the challenges of today’s national and global environment.
Craig is a mechanical engineer who spent nearly two decades working in the electric power industry in southern California. This experience came during his tenure at Southern California Edison, during which time he worked in the Nuclear Engineering Group and was part of the engineering team that built the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station south of San Clemente, California. While there, he was head of the environmental compliance program for nuclear safety equipment.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from California State University. He did post-graduate work in nuclear engineering at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Heeding an early interest in renewable energy, Craig studied solar system design in the 1980s at ARCO Solar, an early pioneer in the photovoltaics industry.
This is Craig’s second book. His first, The Coming Depression, was published in 1979 and, as cited in this work, correctly predicted a generation ago the Great Recession from which we are now recovering.
Craig’s interests go beyond the technical and financial fields. He has long been fascinated by the workings of the mind. With his wife being degreed and licensed in the mental health field for more than 20 years, this close affiliation has resulted in him learning a great deal about the workings of the psyche and why people do what they do.
Now retired from engineering, Craig has devoted his life to an intense, independent study of the global warming phenomenon, and the domains of renewable energy and sustainability. Because he has no affiliation with any group, company, institution, or organization—either private, corporate, or governmental—Craig is obligated to no one and is in a unique position to be completely candid on the subjects he has covered in this book.
