A Winter in Purgatory

Using an ancient curse from a demon's grimoire, a grief-stricken girl resurrects her murdered boyfriend and sends him on a vengeful bloodbath that terrorizes her small New England town.

The year is 1995. For high school sweethearts Max and Lisa, what should be the best years of their young lives becomes an inescapable nightmare when tragedy strikes. After four popular school athletes brutally murder Max and the local sheriff rules his death an accident, Lisa vows revenge at any cost, but sometimes it's the devil that answers our prayers. Grief-stricken to the brink of suicide, Lisa is visited by a demon through an ancient grimoire she acquired a day earlier. After performing a ritual requiring a human sacrifice, she unleashes a curse, enabling her to resurrect Max and send him on a vengeful bloodbath that terrorizes her small town of Milford, New Hampshire. With her two best friends and a tenacious homicide detective piecing together the clues into the gruesome murders gripping Milford with fear, Lisa must do anything she can to hide her dead lover, even as he paints the town red with blood. But as the body count rises to a crescendo of madness and the smell of death turns her stomach and conscience, Lisa discovers Max's soul will remain trapped in hell unless she can find a way to stop the murderous demon from occupying his decomposing remains. However, the demon chose 1995 for a deadly reason, using Lisa to help it evolve into the modern world as the internet goes mainstream to execute its ultimate plan for destruction upon the frightened residents of Milford and all of earth's inhabitants alike.

Nick Graves is a longtime special makeup effects artist from Los Angeles, California, and has worked for some of the very best FX shops in the industry on many major motion pictures. He lived in NYC from 1991-1995, where he worked as a jewelry designer and prop builder for theatre productions and nightclubs. While in the east coast, he spent time in New England and fell in love with its mysterious beauty and rich, spooky history. In his spare time, he enjoys cemeteries, thrift stores, sculpting, painting, drawing creatures, and creating sterling silver gothic jewelry from wax models. He collects exotic tarantula spiders, rare, hard-to-find toys, tattoos, and strange oddities. His love of Halloween, Goth, and all things scary inspired him to create his own supernatural romantic horror, complete with a very cool, misunderstood monster. While writing his debut novel, he supported himself as a bartender.
