About the author
Marie (Mimi) Chapin Plumley was born in Syracuse, New York, and is the youngest of three siblings. Her father was a naval officer and the family lived in many places including Puerto Rico, Panama, and Florida. After she graduated from Sweet Briar College, she settled in northern Virginia and married Allan R. Plumley Jr. She is the mother of three children, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of four and counting. In 1971 she co-wrote a cookbook titled Friends of the Country Club Market. On a bet, Mimi earned her Private Pilot-Glider License in 1972. She is a lifelong tennis player and avid fan of the sport. family and friends are paramount to her. She has devoted substantial time and effort to benefit Arlington Hospital, Health and Harmony, and many other organizations and causes. She was a schoolteacher prior to raising her three children.
