About the author
Arthur Gordon, a native of Savannah, Georgia, was educated at St. Paul’s boarding school in New Hampshire, then attended Yale University before being selected as a Rhodes Scholar from Georgia for a year at Oxford University in England. He then spent several years in New York City serving as a writer on the staff of many prominent magazines. During World War II, Lt. Colonel Gordon was a U.S. Army Air Force Intelligence Officer based in London, England, where he met his future wife, Pamela Bartlett.
After the war, they returned to New York City before ultimately moving back to his beloved Savannah in 1957. Gordon wrote a number of well-received books and was a prolific short story writer for various magazines including Reader’s Digest, Guideposts, Redbook, and Saturday Evening Post. He also collaborated on books with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and others before becoming Editor-in-Chief of Guideposts magazine.
Gordon retired from full time editing and, of small errors. remaining in Savannah, continued his writing while enjoying hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He died in January, 2002, leaving behind his wife of 54 years, Pamela, his eight children and their families.
