Description

What would you do if an old lady needed serious help and you were the only person around? Outside work, Hope, a secondary school teacher does everything she can to avoid human contact. She leaves home early, returns late and does not see a soul from her neighbourhood. She likes it that way. It's the only way she knows to keep from falling apart. One day she meets a stranger at the bus stop and her whole world changes. This is contemporary fiction about relationships - not the romance kind like amour or a fairy tale. These stories are about the every day trials, troubles and triumphs of someone who does everything she can to avoid getting hurt, especially by family. But, family are not always our blood relatives, right? Strangers, neighbours and a sister come pounding on Hope's door. Will she let them in? Relationships are hard. Everyone wants something from you all the time. They always fall apart and you're left trying to piece yourself back together. But what is life without relationships? Safe. Less exhausting. Lonely. What should Hope do? Let us follow her journey and find out.

About The Author

I have always enjoyed stories about real people. Stories in newspapers, short biographies, publications like National Geographic were eye-opening to me. Our world is full of amazing people, each with a unique story that resonates across cultures. Since I enjoy real life stories so much, I write contemporary family drama. Stories about people born and raised outside their cultural heritage. People like me who navigate the complications that come with this extraordinary experience. The meat of good drama is strife, problems and difficulties in life. This can be depressing. People don't want to read about their problems - I don't. But, a narrative sprinkled with optimism encourages me. So I reimagine the stories I have heard, seen and experienced. My hope is that these fictionalised life experiences will entertain and start conversations.
