Turtle and his brother Sam are born into squirrel royalty. Their mother and father are not only beloved by the squirrels of the northern woods, but leaders in its hierarchy as well. After tragedy strikes, the only world the boys have ever known comes crashing down around them. Things go from bad to worse when man enters the picture, threatening their very existence. Realizing the hopelessness of their situation, the young squirrels, along with three friends, set out to find a new home. Deep in his heart Turtle knows there is only one place they can live in peace- the squirrel sanctuary. The question is, does the sanctuary exist or is it just a myth? There is only one way for the squirrels to find out, they must search for it. Turtle cant help but wonder if they do indeed find this place of legend and folklore, will he or any of his friends be alive to see it. " A Squirrel Named Turtle" is a small story with a big heart. Peppered with humor and the harsh realities of life, it will make a reader of any age laugh, cry and cheer.
