Although the book is fiction and meant to be entertaining, it has educational value for anyone wanting to prepare themselves for an unexpected emergency. The book contains crucial information on the systems, supplies and procedures necessary to survive a major emergency. The systems detailed in the book were designed, built and are in use by the author and his wife. These systems, supplies, procedures and considerations are part of the lifestyle that the author and his wife have chosen and are living today. The incidents playing out throughout the story and the hardships that the survivors face are realistic events that the author has studied and evaluated in an effort to make this a thought provoking, realistic post apocalyptic novel.

About the author
Mr. LaLonde is a retired pilot with a background in electronics. He attended Coyne Electronics Institute in the late 60's then owned and operated an electronics sales and service business until the late 80's when he became a commercial pilot. During his flying career, he owned and operated a flying service company and provided flight instruction and charter service until 1995 when he assumed a position as line pilot and check airman for a freight company. In 2001 he accepted employment as an instructor pilot and training center evaluator with a flight training facility, in Memphis, TN, responsible for training commercial pilots. He retired from there in 2010 and moved to Northern New York. He, his wife and their Bull Terrier made the trip north in their 36' Trawler by way of the Gulf of Mexico, Okeechobee Waterway, up the East Coast and Hudson River, across Lake Ontario and down the St. Lawrence River. He is a survivalist and much of his adult life has been spent in the outdoors hunting, camping, canoeing and kayaking. He now lives a survivalist lifestyle, off the grid, near the Adirondack Park, in Northern New York with his wife Debby and his Bull Terrier Gnarles Barkley.
