A Lover's Mentality

Life can bring you many ups and downs. What determines it and you is how you cope with it as a person. In Yemya’s case, love determines her life. It controlled her actions, her thoughts and her feelings. It became her mentality. In A Lover’s Mentality, Yemya is faced with many life changing decisions all the while learning the outcome of her mistakes in the process of maturing as a woman. Like all young women who are venturing out to find herself, Yemya encounters many obstacles between love and friendship. Yemya heart falls into the hands of Shame a dread headed, no real potential, soon to be baby daddy who’s out chasing skirts type of man. Unsure if she is able to continue to hold on to what she think is love; or if her heart and mind strong enough to stand with her back against the wall. She faces many ultimate decisions living the life with the mentality of a lover.

Over time, I have learned that friendship, relationships, life, and, at times, dealing with others can equal to a lot of bullshit! Someone has to go through it, so why not let it be me? Everything happens for a reason right? That’s what they say. But why me? Why so many ups and downs and so many trials and tribulations. I mean, is it worth the struggle? Between Shame and I, things have been chaotic! Life with me is something to talk about. I didn’t kill anyone; I didn’t rob anything, and I wasn’t addicted to any drug. I loved, I learned, and I lived. I must admit I do have my flaws and misunderstandings, but I can only be me. I'm about lies, secrets, pain, honesty, and some other things boxed up into one personality. But at the end of the day, I will always have a story to tell. Ever since meeting Shame, love for me has become tainted. Love has become a lesson. Love is an obstacle, a journey, a feeling. I have found and lost love many times. At least that’s what I think. I have come to realize that as a child growing up it was only puppy love. I have told story after story after story, until I came to the conclusion that this is what my life is based upon. Something only you can relate to. Something he, she, and they can actually think about. That’s only in my opinion. Something may be of your interest, and with me being able to tell you about me, Yemya LaShay Smith, flaws and all. Let me introduce you to my inside outs and twisted ways in search of love. About my deepest and darkest secrets, about my thoughts and feelings on love and the shit I had to go through only to have never gotten it. These are the chapters of my life, pages combined into one story after another. Of course, who wouldn’t want to know what goes on behind closed doors? We all have skeletons in our closets. After all, this is what you have been waiting for, isn’t it?

Sade’ L. Collins, a mother and a wife with a vigilant, ambitious personality has been a part of the literary game since she was in 8th grade by writing her first book that was never published entitled ‘Me and You’. Being able to set in stone by working a full time job and attending college for her Business Administration Associates Degree she continues to press forward with her new production company SLC Productionz. Since the year 0f 2007 Sade who had worked hard to convert her dreams into reality is now on the road to success with her first debut novel ‘A Lover’s Mentality’. Born in Chattanooga, TN as Sade Yates, her mother noticed her love for reading, writing and art so she enrolled her in to a fine arts school. While there, she discovered many talents; creative art and creative writing. Being so indulge in the arts world her passion grew as she progressed on with age. While crafting her talents, she endured a lot with love that brought her growth as a young woman. By the age of 18, Sade was on the road of discovering herself. Through her writing from experiences and different life situations that goes on in a everyday life, she created thoughts and characters that over the years evolved into numerous of books. “A Lover’s Mentality”, “Me, Myself & I” and “Hustlin’ N Love” being her first of the main few that Sade has written. Over the past six years, with determination, Sade continued to sculpt her thoughts of becoming an urban writer, with the admiration of Mya Angelou, Zane, Sister Soujah, Jade Jones and LaShonda Devaughn, her vision of becoming a well known author grew. After meeting her husband who’s a Memphis native because of him, Sade’s motivation grew. Knowing that the world is bigger than Chattanooga itself, she sought more and was strong-minded to never settle for less. “Life isn’t guaranteed, jobs aren’t guaranteed… God gave us talents for a reason--- we just have to learn how to discover them within ourselves. You just have to learn how to develop them from the inside so the world can see that you were blessed too. There are not a lot of people in the world who want the most out of life, who want to accomplish things--- who just want to be set free from poverty… there are some just don’t want it as bad or some who do but can’t. That’s just how I feel. In the world where I have came from. There are more haters then there are motivators.” After researching and learning the ins and outs of the self-publishing world, Sade came to the conclusion that she was no longer putting her dreams on the shelf. She decided that after giving birth to her first born, after marriage and finishing school in the 2013 year, she was going to leave a trace of her foot prints in the world starting with SLC Productionz.
