Overview
A Guide to AI Tools All the different AI Tools can be applied to improve productivity in various business environments.
Description
I first started studying AI in 1984 at Marquette University, Milwaukee. Back then there was no data so it was just a theoretical exercise in the future potential. I was intrigued but knew that we were far away from practical applications. In 2015 I took an online course in Machine Learning at Berkeley University with Andrew Ng. I was disturbed by the power of prediction and the fact that big players like Google had a monopoly so I came up with a new strategy. When the day comes when I can ask AI to write code for a program and it does it correctly we will have reached that turning point. That day was November 30th, 2022.
About the author
About the Author My story starts with 'from hunting with a homemade bow & arrow in the jungles of Africa to coding Blockchain solutions in San Diego. It is a long stretch, but I did it'. I first caught the computer bug in 1984 while attending Marquette University working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Back then we had to wait in line to use the dumb terminals in the lab that were hooked up to a mainframe to do our assignments. That Christmas Santa gave me a Commodore Plus 4 personal computer ($199). After connecting it to our Black and white TV and an acoustic 300 bps modem I was able to login into the mainframe, do my assignments remotely and pick up the printouts next day. At the time I realized that this was required important knowledge power so I spent countless hours learning to code using Basic and machine language. I was born in Nyasa land (Malawi, Africa) to Greek parents and we lived there until I was 13 years old. I spent my High School and University years in Athens, Greece. I transferred 169 to Marquette University in Wisconsin, USA, where I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. We moved to Los Angeles in 1986 where I got a sales job at a Hollywood Apple dealer. After 11 months of working there, I founded NTI with $75 and never looked back. In the early nineties, I became an authorized Certified Apple Technician and Apple Authorized Reseller and opened an Apple Store before they really existed. I had the pleasure of meeting with Steve Jobs in Cupertino, California. Back in those days, we were a small group, Steve said, 'convert one person at a time to switch to the Macintosh computer'. In 1987 I made what appeared to be a bigger blunder than believing in the Macintosh computer; I developed a customization accounting solution called Bricks (now MyOffice Mobile©) which we still sell today. You must remember that back then the Macintosh was considered a toy, not a real computer. Much to my amazement, users still preferred Disk Operating System (DOS) which was when you turned on your computer and got a flashing green cursor. Then you had to type commands in a word document to get the text in bold. You could not see that until the document was actually printed. Today, everything is quite different, with technology taking over every aspect of our lives. Having lived through all major phases in technology since 1984 I regret not playing it differ- ently. After discovering Bitcoin and Blockchain in December 2017 I vowed not to ignore this game-changing technology. Thus began the journey to discover the true meaning of money and the money of the future. The money of the internet, programmable money. I remember first using the Internet in 1992 and thinking, "okay" and then moving on, ignoring the potential of this new technology. When I would ask my clients if they would ever buy anything on the internet with a credit card, they said never. Copyright © 2023 by Nicko Trataris All rights reserved.
