Overview
A town is intent on driving a three-legged, seemingly ferocious dog forcefully back into the woods but Laney and Izzie see something different in the brindle boxer that others can't (or won't) see. Laney, a 10 year-old girl, has often been told that she's 'just a kid" and her opinion doesn't matter and sadly, Laney has started to believe that too. Her longtime babysitter, Izzie, is determined to help Laney embrace herself and value her own ideas and soon Laney starts to realize that maybe she actually can be a voice for the voiceless.

About the author
Kimberly Mills has been an actress, retail manager, sales director, and marketing manager and has lived in Kansas City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Tulsa. She received a Theatre degree from the University of Missouri with a minor in English. Throughout her life and many different career paths, writing has always been a passion and at the center of what drives her. She believes that words hold much power, whether that be in creative marketing content, an acting scene, a good book, or a great conversation. Surviving a tough divorce empowered Kimberly to really find her voice in this world, which she has relied on as a single mom of two daughters, Isabelle and Alana. Therapy and a lot of self-reflection has been the backbone for the strong relationships between Kimberly and her daughters. She believes that helping her kids put words to what they're feeling and talking through the toughest of conversations has aided in her daughters finding strength within themselves and the passion to help others do the same. For years, Kimberly put writing on the back burner in lieu of "real jobs" but when the Pandemic hit, followed by endless accounts of a nation filled with rage and fear, and immeasurable conversations with her kids on how to be an ally and a voice of love during dark times, she took to her laptop to find words flow through her like they'd been waiting for their moment. They came out in the form of a children's book, which is so appropriate because she believes children can often be our greatest guides, as she's found with her own daughters. "A Glimmer of Hope" is Kimberly's battle cry for the children of this world to listen to their hearts, to find their voices, and speak their truths.
