About the author
Dr. Philip W. Chapman graduated with Honors from the University of Illinois in January, 1974. He attended the University of South Carolina on a fully funded Army scholarship, from where he earned Masters of Criminal Justice graduating Cum Laude, as a Distinguished Honor Graduate of the College of Criminal Justice in 1988. Reverend Chapman also attended The Chicago Theological Seminary and earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree.
Ordained in 1978, Rev. Chapman served as a Minister for the United Church of Christ for over thirty years. Dr. Chapman provided ministry as a Chaplain for the United States Army and for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Now retired, he volunteered as a Chaplain for Illinois American Legion Post 439, (Lee Iten), in Highland, IL and pastors at Zion Evangelical Church in Central City, IL
Dr. Chapman recently celebrated his “Silver Wedding Anniversary” with his wife Melissa Snyder Chapman in 2010. Married in 1984 they are blessed with two children, Jennifer and Mark. Phil enjoys reading, fishing, and golfing. He tailored these spiritual reflections for soldiers, sailors, and marines standing on the ramparts of freedom around the world.
