About the author
Doreen Cummings, the visionary behind an exciting new children's book series, is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community who identifies as trans. A native of Greater Boston and a Wheaton College MA alum, Doreen has spent their life immersed in creative expression, from songwriting and musical arrangement to weaving words into impactful stories. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, Doreen noticed a glaring absence of children's books with characters exploring gender identity. As a debut author, they are driven to fill that gap, offering LGBTQ+ youth characters that young readers can connect with on a personal level. This mission holds deep meaning for Doreen, who shares, "Writing this book series is a dream come true. Books exploring gender differences would have made a significant impact on my journey as a youth." Doreen's vision goes beyond the pages of their books as they partner with organizations to support transgender and LGBTQ+ youth, using literature to amplify diverse voices and foster understanding among young readers everywhere. Through their stories, Doreen aspires to create a world where every child sees a piece of themselves reflected in the characters they read about
