In 2011 after experiencing a case of strep throat that that would not go away, the author was given antibiotics that caused an allergic reaction and sent her to the ER. After being sent home with medications and a seemingly insurmountable path to recover, it seemed like life would be forever tainted by chronic pain. On top of this, further diagnoses revealed ailments like herniated discs and degenerative spine issues. Despite the adversity, the author made the choice to move forward and overcome her chronic pain. Although the road to recovery was never easy, she managed to feel changes and get excited about life once again.
