This children's reader is a fun story for young readers and also great for learning basic movement skills. It is a multipurpose motivational movement arts reader.
Description
The multipurpose nature of this book will provide young readers with opportunities to improve their reading skills along with their skills in movement. The overriding theme is to encourage children to do their best, to try, and not give up. Most importantly, the process of learning should be FUN. Parents and others may use this book as a supplement to books read in school and at home. Educators may use the book in addition to other books and also for the development of motor learning in physical education classes. The reading level is for early readers to grade second. How to use the book The book can be used in several ways: Children can: Read the story, then try the movements on the challenging, “Can You?” pages. Read only the story. Try the “Can You?” pages until the movements are learned.
About the author
Lawrence P. Bestmann, B.S. Physical Education, M.S. Recreation, Ph.D. Health: Physical Education Taught on all levels from preschool through the doctoral level. Extensive experience includes teaching high school and science department chair, Coaching gymnastics in high school and college, nationally and internationally. Competed in high school and college gymnastics. Voted team captain and most valuable in college. Member of Florida State national championship team. Won individual titles in Illinois, Georgia, and Florida. Coaching: Developed the first college gymnastics team in Puerto Rico. Kingdom of Bahrain: Developed the first gymnastics teams in that nation. Saudi Arabia: Developed the first school gymnastics program.
