You Among the Coordinates

by Greg Masters View publisher's profile page

Overview
A collection of so-called short stories recounting 40 years in the author's existence in the East Village of Manhattan – from hormone-fueled escapades and bewilderment to a perhaps slightly more mature assessment of peculiarities.
Description

The stories celebrate girlfriends in the witness protection program, sneaking into movie theaters, what I should have said to Jimmy Fallon and one in the voice of IB Singer.

August 2019: three five-star reviews are in from online review site Readers’ Favorite:

Greg Masters’s You Among the Coordinates really wrapped its way around my soul. There were moments when I laughed and related many times with the subject material, and there were moments when I wept. The words will touch you and embrace you…A beautiful melodic pairing of words is found all throughout You Among the Coordinates and you won’t want to miss the trip that it takes your body, mind, and soul on. – Erin Nicole Cochran

Greg Masters’ story collection You Among the Coordinates transforms the ordinary into special recollections over a span of forty years…[IT] is an imaginative and straightforward literary piece. – Edith Wairimu

You Among the Coordinates is a gem of a book for its elegant style and charming story. Among its best features, its great storytelling is the one that stands out. Masters has a way of writing that is natural, and that makes the story easy to understand. You Among the Coordinates is praiseworthy for the way it presents its protagonist’s mind…I recommend You Among the Coordinates to readers who like to be lulled by words and who appreciate quiet but meaningful stories. – Astrid Iustulin

About the author
When he arrived in Manhattan's East Village in the mid-1970s, Greg Masters pounded rock and roll drums in basement dives, "alternative" spaces, CBGB and Irving Plaza and attended readings and workshops at the Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Along with Michael Scholnick and Gary Lenhart, he edited the poetry magazine Mag City from 1977-1985. In 1977-78, along with a crew of poet comrades, he produced a cable TV show, Public Access Poetry. From 1980-83, he edited the Poetry Project Newsletter. He has worked for a number of book, magazine and web publishers, beginning as a proofreader and copy editor and then for the last 20 years as a managing editor. This is his seventh book from Crony Books.
