A small mountain community loses power and almost everything electronic. Most in the community are evacuated by the military. But a few who are left behind come together, hungry for information about what happened and why help isn't coming. They face murder, desperate people and struggle in isolation. This is the story of their survival in a lawless world clinging to the hope everything will return to normal.

Ben Kilgore has always had an active imagination that sees all sorts of "what if" possibilities. These are often influenced by his love of the physical sciences and history. He is most fascinated with how a single event can shape the unexpected twists and turns our future might take.

He was educated at Brown, Iowa State and Stanford, and enjoyed a career in both the corporate world and small business. Travel in countries both developed and very under developed added to his diverse base of experience. All of this feeds his story telling. Writing is a creative outlet for his explorations of alternative futures and unexpected possibilities.
