"Tucker Finds His Forever Home" follows the heartfelt journey of a young pitbull-mix dog who is forced out of his home because of the way he looks.

The book illustrates the effect of the abandonment and shelter process on dogs. Readers will follow along as Tucker learns a lot about tough decisions, confusion, fear, and hopelessness that transitions into a heartwarming and inspiring happy ending when he is seen for who he really is: a dog in need of unconditional love - for life.

He realizes that he isn't a worthless dog after all. In the end Tucker found out that being himself was good enough.

About the author

If you love dogs, you need to know about Beth Miller and Wagtown. Beth is the founder of the charitable organization that helps communities become more dog friendly. Wagtown is the bridge between "We want to be dog friendly" and "We are dog friendly." Since launching Wagtown in 2016, she has interviewed more than 500 community leaders, elected officials, animal welfare advocates, grassroots groups, and others. She learned from the successes and failures in what Miller refers to as the "Dogification of America." Throughout her research across the United States, it became obvious to Miller that she needed to speak to children about dogs and their effect on our lives. Enter Beth's first book – a children's book called, "Tucker Finds His Forever Home."

The book features beautiful watercolor artwork of artist Erica Schindler. Erica is a self-taught, dog-loving artist from Dayton, Ohio. Though she creates with multiple mediums, she has found watercolor to be not only her personal favorite but also her most expressive work. Creating illustrations for a children’s book has always been a dream of hers, so when she was asked to help with “Tucker Finds His Forever Home,” she jumped on board. Erica loves the ability to use color to describe feeling and imagery. The watercolors she creates are filled with relatable emotion.

100% of Wagtown's book proceeds go to animal welfare projects and programs.

Yes, 100%. Much more impact can be made on the welfare of animals in our communities if we can get this book to kids and their families, rescues, schools, libraries, shelters, etc. Dogs make the world a better place. Now, it's time to make the world a better place for them.

Tucker Finds his Forever Home Wow! Just Wow! As a rescue “Dog Dad” and an educator, “Tucker Finds his Forever Home” teaches so many lessons. Beth brings to life how we as people are different just as dogs are. The same goes for children. Many children get bullied for being different, but Beth’s book brings it to life through the eyes of Tucker because he is different. The lesson of acceptance and understanding is something that needs to be taught all the way around. Beth shows it in this book. I loved the Lessons portion at the end of the book where educators can have discussions with their students! All Primary teachers should have this as part of their classroom library! Each dog is an individual - this book helps remind us I knew the synopsis of Tucker Finds his Forever home before reading it, but it still tugged at my heartstrings. Tucker's story of abandonment, shelter life, adoption and acceptance is a story those in animal advocacy know and witness. Breed Restrictions, including limits on types of dogs in affordable and accessible housing can have widespread implications. I live for the day that each town can be a WagTown and I'm so glad this book will help to pave the way. This book addresses some heavy subjects in a way that's approachable for children and is a valuable tool for education and advocacy. Read more
