About the author
Jonathan Tilley received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from Ithaca College after blasting through the intense 4 year program in only 3 while simultaneously receiving a minor in Dance at Cornell University. This extensive acting, singing and dance training prepared him well for his move to New York City the day after graduation where he broke out into NYC dance scene performing in multiple award-winning dance companies and in the movie “Center Stage” filmed at the Lincoln Center.
Throughout his musical career Jonathan could be seen in blockbuster musicals like “CATS”, “Mamma Mia!”, “42nd Street”, and “A Chorus Line” all over the world and was honored to be an Assistant Associate Choreographer for the German and Russian productions of “Mamma Mia!”.
But as all dancer's careers come to an end due to age and physical stamina, Jonathan transitioned from over 20 years of dancing and choreographing professionally to using his other skills that were put on hold: Acting and Voice.
This choice to use his other performance skills paved the way to a prosperous second career as a voice-over artist and coach. Since 2002 he's voiced thousands of corporate narrations, image films, and business presentations for companies like Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, KIA, FujiFilm, Porsche, IBM, Siemens, Philips, BASF and also voiced commercials for Sprite, Google, Red Bull, Nivea and many more. While some have said he has a “gorgeous voice” and “a huge artistic and vocal range” others have said he “strikes the balance of having fun and getting the job done” and that there is “no better alternative”.
When not in a sound proof studio working behind the microphone for international clients he shares his knowledge and life experience coaching other voice-over artists and public speakers. Jonathan brings out the authentic voice of every student he works with by discovering their unique strengths and abilities and encourages them to also share their voice with the world. This inspired Jonathan to start writing about the tools that helped him reach and maintain abundance as a voice-over artist. And in turn, "Voice Over Garden: How To Create Abundance As A Global Online Voice Actor" is the fruit of his joyous labor.
