About the author

Carnell Moore seeks to discover what makes a marriage relationship not only last, but thrive. He didn't see it at home as a child. One of his first memories of his parents was a physical altercation that split the two for good, even though they were never married. Soon afterward, the alcohol, heated arguments and physical altercations continued with his mom and stepfather until his unfortunate death. The culture outside his home wasn't much better either for learning about happy and thriving marital relationships. Sex was a celebrated accomplishment among young men, and shallow dating, acts of kindness, and words of affirmation would be used as tactics to achieving it versus building up each other's spirit and character for a lasting relationship. But years later, while serving in the Air Force, dating came to a crossroad, and the decisions Carnell made would now affect others. All the great things of life - fatherhood, marriage, and career - took their toll as he handled them based on his feelings that day as opposed to his responsibilities as a man. He thought he had no one to turn to for guidance as neither of his fathers discussed nor demonstrated how to manage life's challenges; he didn't have a pastor or mentor to guide him and; he wasn't sure how to address his trials with friends and family. Carnell thought divorce was going to be the answer but didn't give in to that idea. His wife suggested a "Weekend To Remember" couples retreat in 1998 that sparked hope, and the two started working on their relationship with God, with each other, and with the help of friends who understood their goal of staying together. To date, Carnell happily celebrates almost 30 years with his wife, Dr. Nancy A. Moore. They have five children and live in Tampa, Florida, operating their businesses in financial and life management and veterinarian medicine. He continues to work at making his marriage better and has started the annual book series Vital Guidance For A Lasting Relationship to help those thinking about marriage, who have been married, who are currently married, and who want to stay married by learning from others who are committed and thriving in long-lasting marital relationships.
