When Biannie Burton’s abusive husband Charlie dies in a motorcycle accident, she looks forward to creating a new life for herself and her family, never dreaming Charlie will be more trouble dead than he ever was alive. When two men come to collect Charlie's gambling debt, and Biannie finds they have no money to pay it, their threats send Biannie and her family on a wild flight that ends with her collecting strays and finding her courage.

I grew up in Cimarron County, Oklahoma out in the very northwest tip of the Panhandle and could make the case that my entire life has been a journey, Summer theater in Pennsylvania and Montana, a strange, almost surreal flight to New York to audition for a scholarship to a drama school, marriage, and motherhood were some of my early journeys. These were followed by studying Spanish in Mexico, accompanying a college group on a USO tour to Iceland and Greenland, riding the rails across Great Britain and exploring Alaska through a land/sea cruise.
