The Sharers
by M. N. Quirk

Overview

"The time is out of joint; o cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right… I wasted time, and now doth time waste me… O, call back yesterday, bid time return"…..William Shakespeare

"What nourishes me destroys me… Cut is the branch that might have grown full straight"…Christopher Marlowe

"It is the word. The word is everything. “

-Richard Allen

THE SHARERS

Violent murders spanning nearly 500 years… Mutilated bodies dumped in theatre alleys, their hearts ripped out…Christopher Marlowe's 16th century diary, beginning as a youth, detailing his secret education with William Shakespeare; a diary he kept until the day of Marlowe's own violent murder. These elements have a profound impact on the lives of 20th Century performers  Richard Allen, the most famous Shakespearian actor of his generation, and  Megan Christopher, a promising young actress.  Set against the backdrop of the 1990's Broadway theatre scene, the murders, treachery and madness continue until the reason is unearthed and the carnage can finally cease.

M.N.Quirk is the author of 30 novels in another genre, under the name Mary Anderson.

Description

A suspenseful ride! From the prologue, describing brutal murders occurring outside theaters where 18th and 19th Century actors once performed, to the opening chapter chronicling the historic protests against the demolition of two beloved 20th Century Broadway theaters- to the thrilling conclusion, the tension continues to build. Beginning in 1982, as famous actors vehemently protest the loss of the stages where they performed, followed by a brutal murder, we see that the past and present are irrevocably linked.  The inclusion of Christopher Marlowe’s own 16th Century diary continues to draw the reader into a web of mystery and intrigue that asks more questions which can only be fully answered by the final climax of the story.

M.N.Quirk, (Mary Nell Quirk) is a native New Yorker who has lived her entire life in Manhattan within twenty blocks of where she grew up. During childhood growing up in a Harlem tenement she spent all her free time at the local library where she developed her love for both reading and writing. She also had a love for the theater at an early age although she never could actually afford to attend. Luckily, the local library had a extensive collection of play anthologies, and she devoured them all. She spent a brief time acting Off-Broadway until she realized writing was her primary interest. As Mary Anderson, she has written more than thirty novels for young people, many of which are set in New York City. When she decided to write an adult work of fiction, she was able to fully explore her love of theater and spent many happy hours researching in private libraries throughout the city.
