About the author
I have been a professional photographer for the past 34 years. Living in California's Monterey Bay region has allowed me the opportunity to photograph amazing coastlines, searing deserts, and the incredible vistas of the Sierra Nevada. During my career as a professional sports and landscape photographer, I have worked for and been published in numerous prestigious publications such as Time, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, The New York Times and Outdoor Photographer Magazine. I am the author of three books (The Photographer's Guide to the Big Sur Coast, On the Edge and Refined Vision). As an instructor, I teach workshops across the western United States and have helped thousands of photographers ranging from beginners to professionals. I have been co-team photographer with the NHL's San Jose Sharks since their inception in 1991, and I routinely work for the NBA. My work is represented by Getty Images and Alamy.
