About the author

Author Alford Harrison lives with his family in Los Angeles, California. With a degree in Psychology and certified to teach English as a second language, his passion for education comes from working as a teacher and lecturer alongside the top educators at Beijing Normal University, China. As an educator, Alford understands the importance of reading to children and how reading builds relationship bonds between parent and child, along with developing children's imagination, critical thinking, and communication skills. The inspiration for The Land of Spoons comes from a lifelong friendship between Sarah and Alford, and a shared aim to entertain while educating.

Illustrator Sarah Mackay lives in St Albans, England, with her family. Her degree in English & Drama led to a career in Theatre Programming, Venue Management, and Community Arts. Her art materials are never far from her side when facilitating various creative projects. Sarah is also a professional Lipspeaker, with a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language, providing communication support to deaf people. Sarah is delighted to have brought Alfie to life on his journey into The Land of Spoons.
