Description
The Dolphin Who Loves Golfin' is a poetry-picture book for young children. Its central character, Don the Dolphin, has universal appeal, and its captivating story line has a delightful surprise ending. It is heartwarming, charming, and joyful. It is the perfect book for golfers to share their love of the game with the next generation. There are over 25 million golfers in the USA, many more worldwide. Up to now there has never been a children's book of significance that directly addresses this huge market, and the concerns of the people who work in the industry. The demographics of golf show an aging core of players, with fewer young people taking up the game. Therefore you have a large number of golfer parents and especially grandparents, and an industry that is very interested in bringing children into the game. What better way than to read them a book which portrays golf in the best light.
About the author
Pete Shoemaker co-authored, with his golf-professional brother Fred, the highly-successful book Extraordinary Golf: The Art of the Possible (Putnam, 1996). To date it has sold over 130,000 copies, and Fred Shoemaker's School for Extraordinary Golf has been long-recognized as one of the top golf schools in the country. Pete also composed and produced a companion song album, Extraordinary Golf, which has sold over 6,000 copies. He is also an experienced performer who, like most fathers, loved reading to his children as they grew up. The Dolphin Who Loves Golfin' is the perfect such book, and Pete has the ability to make the story come alive in public readings, making book promotions significant and memorable events. Pete currently works as an educator in solar energy systems for Pacific Gas & Electric Company in San Francisco, California. He lives in Pacifica, California, with his wife Gail.
